About The Position

The Simons Observatory (SO) Small Aperture Telescopes (SATs) are a three-telescope array that is searching for evidence of primordial gravitational waves sourced by an epoch of inflationary expansion in the early universe through observations of the large angular scale polarization in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). Each SAT telescope consists of over 10,000 transition-edge sensor detectors that need to be regularly re-biased as optical loading from the sky changes. In this project we will an analysis pipeline to determine whether detectors need to be re-biased before the next CMB observation and investigate if there are instances where rebiasing could occur without the need to overbias detectors and heat the focal plane.
