About The Position

The Visiting Research Fellowship role will train and learn under the direction of a Principal Investigator in the area of Clinical Research. This is a one-year term position.

Requirements

  • MD or foreign equivalency.
  • Formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate investigator-initiated clinical studies, including IRB submission, data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and journal submission.
  • Prepare and submit case studies.
  • Conduct clinical research projects (including patient screening and recruitment, informed consent, chart review, data submission, etc.).
  • Provide written and verbal reports to the Principal Investigator and Project Manager.
  • Recruit and educate potential patients and assess their eligibility for studies under the guidance of the principal investigator.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities by reviewing clinical data in medical record charts, assessing pharmacy compliance with protocol criteria, and reviewing study documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Work closely with the Research Institute and Human Research Protection Program and have a working knowledge of KUMC policies and procedures.
  • Review and assist with the assessment of research protocols.
  • Coordinate study participant visit activities including scheduling procedures, communicating with subjects, and completing necessary basic study procedures.
  • Review publication-ready manuscripts for the Kansas Journal of Medicine to learn critical review.
  • Give oral presentations and talks as advised.
  • Discuss any current clinical trials if applicable to research involvement via CCR meetings.
