About The Position

The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Economics is seeking a full-time, one-year visiting lecturer for undergraduate instruction, beginning Fall 2026, pending budgetary approval. This appointment is outside the tenure stream, with competitive salary and benefits. The primary focus of this role is teaching and student engagement, with an expectation of teaching six 3-credit courses over the academic year (three in Fall, three in Spring). Duties include course instruction, curriculum development, assessment, learning management, student support, advising, mentorship, and accessibility. The visiting lecturer is expected to attend departmental faculty meetings when requested, participate in relevant departmental activities, and adhere to University guidelines on academic integrity and record keeping.

Requirements

  • PhD in economics
  • Experience teaching Economics at the college/university level

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching or research experience in Sports Economics, Health Economics, Development Economics, or other Applied Microeconomics subjects

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, undergraduate-level instruction within the department of economics.
  • Teach three 3-credit courses in the Fall semester and three 3-credit courses in the Spring semester.
  • Provide student support and advising, including regular office hours, mentorship, and accessibility.
  • Engage in course instruction, curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, and learning management.
  • Attend departmental faculty meetings when requested.
  • Participate in relevant departmental activities.
  • Follow University guidelines pertaining to academic integrity and record keeping.
