About The Position

The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a one-year Visiting Lecturer of Theatre and Performance Studies position beginning in August 2026. The successful candidate will demonstrate significant expertise in theatre history, performance studies, and playwriting. Duties of the position include teaching undergraduate courses in world theatre history, performance studies, script analysis, and playwriting; teaching a graduate seminar; mentoring and advising undergraduates in research and practice, including playwriting and dramaturgy; and contributing to the diversity goals of the department in scholarship, teaching, and practice.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. completed by the date of hire
  • Evidence of teaching excellence
  • Evidence of artistic practice
  • Evidence of an active research profile in the field

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in world theatre history, performance studies, script analysis, and playwriting
