Candidate will investigate regulatory elements within the 3’ untranslated regions (3’UTRs) of protein-coding genes by integrating various genomic databases, high-throughput sequencing datasets, and predictive models. The 3’UTR governs mRNA stability, degradation, translation, transport, and localization through polyadenylation signals and cleavage sites, RNA-binding protein interactions, and microRNA target sites. Developing a genome-wide computational framework to systematically detect and interpret 3’UTR variants with potential functional impacts on gene regulation. When this research is analyzed and interpreted, candidate will be able to prepare manuscripts for publication, assist with grant proposals and progress reports to support project funding.
