About The Position

St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida, invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty position in Mathematics for Spring 2027. This is a one-semester appointment, with the possibility of consideration for a continuing full-time position beginning Fall 2027. We are seeking a dependable, student-focused faculty member who is comfortable teaching a range of undergraduate mathematics courses. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching and supporting student success.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics or statistics.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate Statistics is required.
  • Ability to teach College Algebra and other introductory mathematics courses.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to teaching and supporting students with a wide range of mathematical preparation.

Nice To Haves

  • College-level teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Canvas, ALEKS, or similar instructional technology is helpful but not required.
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. may be considered at the Visiting Assistant Professor level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full-time undergraduate mathematics course load.
  • Teach courses that may include College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, and Statistics, depending on departmental needs.
  • Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
  • Work collaboratively with mathematics faculty on common course materials, assessments, and student success initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental activities as needed.
