Hastings College seeks to hire a Visiting Instructor in Sociology to begin August 2026. This is a 9-month position, teaching three courses (12 credit hours) per semester. This position will be housed in the Department of Psychology & Sociology, a welcoming and collaborative department of seven full-time faculty members. The department is active on campus and highly engaged in the shared governance structure of the college. This position will teach primarily sociology courses, with some courses also counting towards the major/minor in Criminology. Additional duties include: holding office hours, assessment of student learning, and attending department meetings, with the option to attend division and full-faculty meetings. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching: Introduction to Sociology, Sociological Theory, Social Problems, and Gender, Race, and Crime. The college adheres to an 8-week block schedule where students take two (4 credit) classes per block, which allows for deep topic exploration, strong peer collaboration, and hands-on learning.
