About The Position
Bridgewater College, The Rhodes School and the Department of History and Political Science invite applications for a full-time, 9-month, Visiting Assistant Professor to teach classes in modern European History beginning August 17, 2026. We are seeking a Modern European Historian who brings student-centered engagement and a passion for the study of history into the college classroom.
Requirements
- Creativity and innovation in pedagogy and research
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across campus
Nice To Haves
- Ph.D. in Modern European History (exclusive of Britain). Candidates who are ABD will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Teach lower-level world history survey and upper-division courses in modern European history
- Teach 24 semester credits per year (4-4 distribution)
- Participate in the College’s general education program
- Teach and mentor students within a liberal arts context
