About The Position
The Department of English at the University of Central Missouri invites applications for a one-year appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor of English for the academic year 2026-2027. Faculty in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Central Missouri support the University’s mission of providing a high-quality education and are committed to the success of their students.
Requirements
- PhD (or ABD) in English or a related field.
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching composition and literature classes at the college level.
- Experience teaching both online and in-person.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students enrolled in the Department’s general-education program, teaching both composition and literature courses in in-person and online modalities.
- Effective delivery of instruction.
- Be available to meet students outside the classroom during office hours and tutorials.
- Timely and fair evaluation and feedback of student progress.
- Comply with all departmental, college, and University standards and regulations.
- Contribute to cultivating a collegial atmosphere when interacting with other University faculty and staff.
