About The Position

The Art History Department at Pomona College invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure track, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Early Modern Art History (1400–1800 CE), beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will join a dynamic academic community in which small class sizes and direct mentorship of students are encouraged. The position is full-time and has a teaching load of five courses for the academic year. Applicants with expertise in European, Mediterranean, British, and Latin American art history are especially welcome to apply. The position has a teaching load of five courses over two semesters. Ph.D. in Art History preferred, ABD applicants with prior teaching experience will be considered. The Art History Department at Pomona College participates in the Joint Program in Art History that includes Scripps and Pitzer Colleges. The Art History Department also enjoys a collaborative relationship with the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College, the Williamson Art Gallery at Scripps College, and the Pitzer College Art Galleries. Pomona College and the Art History Department support equal access to higher education. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Art History by July 1, 2026.
  • Advanced ABDs with prior teaching experience will be considered.

  • Provide proof of the legal right to work in the United States.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $75,000-$80,000 and is commensurate with years in rank and teaching experience.
