About The Position

This is a full-time, one-year visiting faculty position with competitive salary and benefits beginning August 2026, reporting to the Dean and Director of the McCall School of Visual and Performing Arts. The ideal candidate is an individual who values interdisciplinary art programs, embodies excellent interpersonal skills, thoughtfully communicates with students, faculty, and staff; and works well with students from a wide range of backgrounds.

Requirements

  • A terminal graduate degree in the fields of digital media, graphic design, photography, creative technologies, illustration; or a closely related graduate degree with relevant experience.
  • Teaching or possessing a professional background in one or more of the following areas: emerging technologies, graphic design, photography, digital fabrication, VR/AR, digital media, time-based media, illustration, or related fields
  • Teaching and working with current design industry software and technology
  • Implementing active learning strategies that support student success regardless of their prior experience in art and design, or within higher education
  • Active research and/or strong portfolio showcasing a range of professional experiences

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory to advanced studio courses in one or more of the following: emerging technologies, digital media, graphic design, photography, illustration, or closely related fields for undergraduate students
  • Teach foundational courses and/or general education courses, as needed (to be determined by consultation with program coordinator)
  • Collaborate in a variety of activities with faculty in the Art Program, with other program faculty in the McCall School of Visual and Performing arts, and with faculty and staff across the University
  • Assist program coordinator in managing and maintaining the needs of the program
  • Commit to and contribute actively to Coker's mission
