About The Position

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Memphis invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position. This is a non-tenure track position for a fixed one-year period, with a target start date in August 2026 running through June 2027. The position is contingent upon available funding and is for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal. All strong candidates in one of the Department's research areas are encouraged to apply, particularly those with potential for collaboration with one or more of our faculty members. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out a collaborative or independent research program in one of the Department's research areas (evidenced by publishing articles, attending conferences, and giving research talks
  • Teaching a 2/1 course load for the academic year (9-11 credit hours per year)
  • Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
