About The Position
The Department of History at The University of Memphis invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Ancient History. This is a non-tenure track position with a term of one academic year (2026-2027), beginning August 17, 2026, through May 15, 2027. The successful candidate will be eligible for benefits. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Requirements
- PhD is required at the time of appointment.

Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate World History surveys.
- Teach upper-division undergraduate courses in Greek and Roman history.
- Teach courses in both classroom and online formats.
- The teaching load is two courses per semester.
- No service is required during the term of the appointment.
