About The Position

This role involves the coordination and implementation of universal vision and hearing screening for district students. The assistant will be responsible for scheduling, conducting tests, compiling results, and maintaining records. They will also provide vision screenings and Tier 1 hearing screenings, follow up with referred students, and foster positive community relations with school stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent (Required)
  • Ability to effectively utilize vision and hearing testing devices
  • Computer applications skills: Microsoft Office, Google
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support positive outcomes
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the school district community
  • Ability to lead volunteers
  • Ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers
  • Is flexible
  • Maintains a generally positive attitude
  • Observes all District policies and procedures
  • Problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Required to travel around district using personal vehicle

  • Must be able and willing to obtain other certifications required for the position, including CPI certification

Responsibilities

  • Train and oversee volunteers in screening protocols and equipment use.
  • Manage vision and hearing screening equipment, including maintenance, delivery, set-up, troubleshooting, and annual calibration.
  • Process and input student vision and hearing screening results into district software systems.
  • Follow up with parents, nurses, audiologists, and stakeholders regarding referred students.
  • Perform data queries and respond to requests for student data for district and state reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Collaborate with schools to schedule and coordinate vision and hearing screenings.
  • Perform vision and hearing screenings in compliance with Colorado Department of Education guidelines, in collaboration with district School Nurse Consultants and Audiologists.
