About The Position

The Virtual Telemetry Monitor Technician works in the Centralized Monitoring Virtual Department at Texas Health Plano. This role is responsible for monitoring patient telemetry, collecting and documenting rhythm and rate information, and identifying and reporting abnormalities. The technician will also serve as a patient advocate and assist with documentation to meet hospital and regulatory requirements. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving communities in North Texas, offering a range of specialties and advanced care. The hospital is a Level II Trauma Facility, has a Level IV NICU and Maternal Facility, and is a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center. It is also a four-time Magnet-designated hospital.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required
  • Basic Understanding/ability to learn medical terminology

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of telemetry monitoring is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency in the set up and use of the telemetry monitoring equipment.
  • Collects, reports, and documents patient information (rhythms/rate) timely and accurately.
  • Seeks assistance, supervision, or consultation when unsure of rhythm(s) identification.
  • Distinguishes and reports abnormalities and initiates action to provide continuity of care.
  • Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Assists with documentation that supports and meets hospital and regulatory requirements.
