As a Virtual Social Studies/Social Science Teacher, you bring your classroom to life through a screen: connecting with students in real time, personalizing learning for every individual, and creating an online environment where students feel seen, supported, and motivated to succeed. Live, synchronous, on-camera instruction is the heart of this role — it is what our students, families, and partner schools depend on every instructional day. This role is for educators who thrive in a fast-moving digital environment and who believe that great live teaching is the core of great learning, regardless of the medium.

Requirements

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field and an active state teaching license in Washington (state), Oregon, and/or Colorado in Social Studies/Social Science grades 6-12.
Experience teaching in virtual and/or in-person settings and are comfortable with the unique demands of a live online classroom.
Confident and engaging on camera, able to teach live for five (5) or more consecutive hours per day, every instructional day, and build real connection with students through a screen.
Hands-on experience with online learning platforms, virtual instruction tools, and standard productivity software.
Data-informed: know how to read student performance data and use it to adjust your live instruction in meaningful ways.
Excellent communicator, in writing and verbally, and know how to meet students, families, and colleagues where they are.
Highly organized and self-directed, with the time management skills to independently manage a full student caseload in a remote environment.
Bring integrity, warmth, and a deep belief that every student can succeed, values that align with Edmentum’s mission.

Responsibilities

Deliver live, on-camera synchronous instruction for five (5) or more hours per day, every scheduled instructional day, creating an engaging and structured virtual classroom experience that inspires student participation and achievement.
Use student performance data to personalize instruction, identify learning gaps, and adapt your approach to meet each student where they are.
Provide timely, meaningful feedback on student work and maintain accurate records that keep students and families informed and on track.
Build genuine relationships with students and families through professional, proactive communication that fosters trust and shared accountability for learning outcomes.
Collaborate with school partners and Edmentum colleagues to ensure students receive consistent, high-quality support across their learning experience.
Committed to your own professional growth, maintaining certification and staying current on K-12 curriculum, technology, and best practices.
Willing to take on evolving responsibilities based on business needs.
