About The Position

This is a 100% remote (virtual) Telemedicine position. The scheduled work hours are 32 hours/week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. To support this schedule, candidates must reside within the Pacific Time Zone at the time of hire. This role is focused on coordinating and supporting virtual patient visits from start to finish. Responsibilities include contacting patients before appointments, verifying registration and insurance information, preparing charts, completing virtual intake, assisting patients with check-in and check-out, managing the virtual waiting room, launching Zoom visits, handing patients off to the provider, and scheduling follow-up appointments. The position does not involve hands-on clinical duties such as phlebotomy or point-of-care testing, but a basic understanding of clinical workflows is helpful. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, patience with technology, and the ability to troubleshoot virtual visit issues. The individual will work closely with a newly hired provider in a collaborative, team-based virtual environment, primarily supporting one another while providing virtual care to a large patient population with access to remote monitoring devices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant, preferably in Primary Care
  • Graduation from a formal Medical Assistant program or other related program
  • National or state-specific MA certification or registration is required. (MA certification or registration is required for employment in States where certification/registration is required.)
  • CPR/BLS certification required at time of start date
  • Reside within the Pacific Time Zone at the time of hire
  • Strong communication skills
  • Patience with technology
  • Ability to troubleshoot virtual visit issues

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred
  • Basic understanding of clinical workflows is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Contacting patients before appointments
  • Verifying registration and insurance information

  • Escorting patients to room and ensuring that exam rooms are thoroughly cleaned and stocked
  • Reviewing previous medical information and gathering any relevant updated health information from the patient to inform the provider
  • Taking vitals, performing blood draws, giving injections, bandaging wounds, assisting with procedures
  • Working with the contracted labs for additional tests
  • Preparing and administering approved medications and immunizations via oral, topical, inhaled, intramuscular, subcutaneous or intradermal at the direction of and upon written order from the Provider
  • Partnering with other members of the care team to develop individual patient plan of care including identifying and working to address gaps in care
  • Front desk duties, including: patient scheduling, medical record requests and abstraction, documentation, coordinate specialist visits, referrals, and other care outside of the clinic, check-in, check-out, etc.
  • Recording accurate and pertinent data in the medical record according to documentation guidelines
  • Processing test results and providing the patient with timely results via e-message, mail or phone as directed in written instructions by the Provider
  • Participating in outreach to patients to drive engagement among eligible patient groups
  • Maintaining clinical and office supplies and equipment for treatments
