The VDI Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining the VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) deployments. The VDI Engineer is responsible for end-to-end configuration and support of VDI platforms, publishing applications and virtual infrastructure, and maintaining associated documentation. The VDI Engineer will work closely with application owners and support staff to deliver high availability of business-critical applications.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft and VMWare operating systems, Linux knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of VDI platforms, such as VMWare Horizon, Citrix, and Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Knowledge of application delivery methodologies
  • Knowledge of how to integrate Single-Sign-On, RBAC, and least privilege methodologies into a VDI deployment
  • Customer service-oriented mindset, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in completing daily assignments and project activities with great attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, good judgment, and an ability to act decisively.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision to independently stay on task.
  • Ability to suggest system improvements and optimizations
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Information Systems, or related field. Two years of experience can be substituted for each year of college.
  • Typically, five (5) years of relevant technical experience supporting VDI technologies

Nice To Haves

  • Linux knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of Ansible is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Building, configuring, and supporting VDI technologies
  • Performance and availability monitoring of VDI technologies
  • Providing remote customer support for end user issues related to VDI
  • Maintaining secure configurations and RBAC (Role Based Access Control) to VDI
  • Work closely with Service Desk and Device Management groups to keep VDI related software update to date on end-user machines
  • Work closely with Application Owners to manage the lifecycle of applications existing in VDI
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and strategic recommendations to other IT groups
  • Develop, implement, and promote standard operating procedures and schedules
  • Perform other duties as assigned
