About The Position

Open to undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field with a specialization in Virtual Building practices and Digital Technologies. Qualified applicants will assist our VDC and project teams through all phases of a project—from initiation through turnover. Assignments include office and job site; relocation to remote-sites may be required. Transportation is required. Work periods are 10-12 weeks; 40 hours/week. Housing may be provided in certain situations.

Requirements

Undergraduate student status.
Interest in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field.
Specialization in Virtual Building practices and Digital Technologies.
Transportation is required.
Ability to work 10-12 week periods, 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

Assist VDC and project teams through all phases of a project—from initiation through turnover.
Support various use cases through 3D Modeling such as Site Logistics Planning, 3D printing applications, Mixed media such as Virtual Reality, Augmented or Mixed Reality, Virtual Mock-ups, and Existing Conditions Documentation.
Create rendering and animations to support project visualization.
Create phasing and 4D scheduling animations in different mediums.
Perform 5D Model Quantity Takeoffs.
Assist with Reality Capture and Laser Scanning.
Assist with a Project’s Virtual Building Program to support 3D coordination of specific trade partners’ work prior to installation.
Work closely with Architect, Engineers and Owners to mitigate construction conflicts uncovered during the Virtual Building Process.
Support Prefabrication and Offsite construction practices.
Use a total station to support digital layout.
Create composite drawings associated with the Virtual Building Program to support submittal and contract requirements.
Develop 3D as-built deliverables.
Assist with Integrated Digital Turnover and the development of digital twins.
Write RFIs (Request for information) to support the Virtual Building Program.
Respond to subcontractor RFIs.
Interface with subcontractors.
Attend weekly meetings including but not limited to OAC, Virtual Building, Subcontractor and Team meetings.
Assist with reviewing construction documents & specifications.
Assist with reviewing all document revisions & clarifications.
Assist with quality control & safety.
Participate in punchlist & project closeout.
Cooperate and work with field project management.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
