OHDELA (Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academy) is seeking a highly qualified Virtual Assistant Principal who provides a superior education for all students. The Assistant Principal shares the role of cultural, behavioral, and academic leader for the school. Reporting to and working closely with the Principal, the Assistant Principal will partner with teachers, administrators, parents, and students to ensure an environment focused on academic excellence and accountability. The ideal candidate will know how to cultivate strong relationships with people at all levels and backgrounds, possess excellent project management skills and be highly organized and thorough. Key responsibilities include cultivating a caring, supportive, and inclusive school community, understanding the impact of trauma, equity, inclusive practices, and restorative practices on the student and teacher experience, and providing coaching and professional development in effective classroom management. The role involves collaborating with staff and families to improve student behavior, attendance, and engagement, engaging families and the community, and implementing behavior management practices that motivate students. The Assistant Principal will act as a point person to the local community, communicate the school's mission, and solicit input from parents. They must understand and implement the school's philosophy and mission statement, contribute to a positive climate and culture, and build strong professional relationships with parents. The role also includes formulating and administering Career and Technical Education programs, collaborating with personnel to ensure career development services, and facilitating linkages with external organizations to support student transitions. Collaboration with leadership is essential for developing and implementing instructional programs, assessing curriculum, pedagogy, and lesson plans, and observing classes. The Assistant Principal shares responsibility for student achievement and well-being, plans and facilitates professional development, and coordinates staff in-service days and parent-teacher conferences. Collaboration with other instructional leaders is required to ensure fidelity of the MTSS/RTI process, and coordination of summer educational opportunities with the principal. The role involves partnering with Human Resources for talent management, ensuring non-discrimination practices, and collaborating with the Home Office/Operations Team on reporting requirements. Understanding and addressing compliance items related to the Sponsor Agreement, supporting state-required testing, and assisting with updating manuals, policies, and handbooks are also key duties. Staying current on state policies and maintaining high-quality communication with students and families, and handling escalated student problems are expected. A travel requirement of 15% is also a part of this role.
