The Assistant Principal directs and coordinates educational, administrative and counseling activities of high school students. This role ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards, researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards, and helps articulate the school’s mission and vision. The Assistant Principal ensures the school meets the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and other categorical programs. This role interfaces with students, families, local Municipal Court systems, and local districts regarding compliance as it relates to student attendance and engagement. The Assistant Principal develops and oversees the implementation of the school’s Student Achievement Improvement Plan. Additionally, this role supervises and evaluates teaching staff, manages teacher performance, develops and provides necessary training for professional development, and manages Master and Lead Teachers and programs. The Assistant Principal also confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school and coordinates with teachers and K12 Enrollment regarding expulsions and withdrawals. This position directly supervises 15-30 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
