The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), through its Viral Hepatitis program located within the Division of Disease Control, works to prevent and address hepatitis B and C by measuring their incidence and prevalence in Philadelphia; working with the medical community to improve reporting, clinical, and prevention activities; promoting best practices for people who have hepatitis A, B, or C to get tested, linked to care, kept in care, treated, and cured; and coordinating case management to reduce and address transmission from mothers to babies. The Viral Hepatitis Prevention Coordinator (VHPC) will coordinate activities related to viral hepatitis prevention, including outreach, training, education, and collaboration with relevant programs to facilitate access to viral hepatitis services. This role creates and coordinates programmatic messaging. Hepatitis B and C Elimination planning and activities will inform many priorities of this position, and the VHPC will help define and execute the citywide implementation of this work. This position works closely with viral hepatitis surveillance activities to elevate the Viral Hepatitis Program's priorities and initiatives.
