About The Position

The Violent Crime Reduction (VCR) Instructor is responsible for delivering group programming designed to promote offender accountability, reduce violent behavior, and support long-term behavior change. The instructor facilitates structured 90-minute group sessions using participant workbooks, group flash cards. This role includes guiding participants through structured development of non-violent problem-solving skills. The instructor will also complete individual case plans, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to a safe and supportive group environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience working in a correctional, rehabilitative, or criminal justice experience.
  • Experience facilitating groups or providing structured programming in a secure environment.
  • Strong communication, de-escalation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow structured curriculum and maintain fidelity to evidence-based models.
  • Ability to manage group dynamics and maintain safety in a correctional environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) or similar de-escalation training preferred.
  • Experience in cognitive-behavioral programming, conflict resolution, or violence prevention preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates violent-crime reduction groups of approximately 15 participants using evidence-based curriculum.
  • Challenges belief systems that support abusive or violent behavior and promotes prosocial alternatives.
  • Counsels participants concerning their behavior, past and personal problems.
  • Maintains a safe, structured, and accountable group environment.
  • Collaborates with correctional staff, clinical teams, and other program facilitators as needed.
  • Participates in ongoing training, quality assurance reviews, and supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
