Videographer - Social Media

ZAGG•Midvale, UT

About The Position

The Social Media Videographer owns mophie's social-first video output end to end, from concept and capture through editing, publishing, and iteration. The role produces product and lifestyle content in studio and on location, creates vertical video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, and uses platform performance data to inform creative decisions. The Videographer also serves as second camera on Tier 1 campaign shoots led by the Senior Video Producer. The position is suited to a creator-first, self-sufficient professional who understands current platform culture and can respond quickly to trends without heavy oversight. The role includes operating cameras, lighting, and audio on solo and small-crew shoots; managing footage from ingest through archiving; publishing and maintaining the social content calendar; and adapting content based on native analytics. It also involves producing cutdowns from campaign footage, maintaining equipment, contributing to planning and shoot preparation, and supporting community management.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years producing and editing video for brand or creator social channels.
  • A reel or portfolio of social-first vertical work, with performance numbers attached to at least some work.
  • Track record of owning content from idea through posted asset, rather than working only on editing.
  • Strong fundamentals in camera operation using mirrorless or cinema camera bodies, lighting, and audio.
  • Comfort with gimbal work, including stabilized movement, tracking, and walk-and-talk shots.
  • Ability to shoot intentionally on a phone when the format calls for it.
  • On-camera presence or comfort directing non-actors and internal talent.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve; working knowledge of After Effects.
  • Experience with CapCut or an equivalent fast-turn mobile and desktop editor.
  • Familiarity with native platform editors and publishing tools across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Experience with a social scheduling and analytics platform such as Later, Sprout Social, or Dash Hudson, or a similar tool.
  • Working fluency with AI tools in production workflows, including transcription and auto-captioning, generative fill and object removal, background cleanup, upscaling, and rough-cut or b-roll assistance.
  • Ability to write clear prompts and iterate toward usable AI results; ability to use AI for supporting work while retaining final creative judgment.
  • Understanding of AI limitations, including avoiding fabricated product imagery, invented features, unverified claims, and AI-generated likenesses without clearance.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new tools as the team's workflow changes.
  • Current working knowledge of TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts specifications, formats, and ranking behavior.
  • Ability to interpret native analytics, including retention curves, watch time, saves, and shares, and explain what to change.
  • Fluency in platform culture, including evaluating trends, identifying when they have passed, and understanding what may feel inauthentic.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables on deadline with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift and move production equipment up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods on shoot days.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with consumer electronics, accessories, or e-commerce brands.
  • Experience growing a brand or personal channel with measurable results.
  • Motion graphics and After Effects template experience.
  • Advanced color grading and node-based workflows in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
  • Experience with strobe and continuous lighting.
  • Still photography capability for social and e-commerce use.
  • Experience briefing creators or managing UGC and influencer deliverables.
  • Familiarity with paid social, including cutting variants for testing and working with a media buyer.
  • Experience with livestream or shoppable video formats.

Responsibilities

  • Shoot product and lifestyle video in studio and on location, independently and with small crews.
  • Edit social-first vertical video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, from raw capture through final delivery.
  • Operate camera, lighting, and audio on solo and small-crew shoots; set up and strike studio lighting, grip, and set.
  • Serve as second camera or camera operator on Tier 1 campaign shoots.
  • Create multiple hooks, lengths, and aspect ratios from a single shoot for testing across placements.
  • Shoot and edit lo-fi, creator-style content when a less polished format is likely to perform better.
  • Own the day-to-day social content calendar by pitching, batching, scheduling, and publishing content.
  • Source trends, sounds, and formats weekly and identify opportunities for mophie to act on them.
  • Write captions, hooks, on-screen text, and hashtags tailored to each platform.
  • Review native platform analytics and adjust future content based on performance.
  • Support community management by surfacing comment themes, reply-worthy moments, and content requests.
  • Ingest, back up, organize, and archive media according to team standards.
  • Maintain consistent framing, color, and pacing across delivered content.
  • Deliver fast-turn content on short deadlines, including same-day reactive posts.
  • Repurpose Tier 1 campaign footage into social cutdowns.
  • Maintain camera and studio equipment and flag repair or replacement needs.
  • Contribute ideas to content planning, shot listing, and batch-shoot preparation.
