About The Position

The Videographer supports SCDES by producing high-quality video content that informs, educates and engages the public about the agency's programs, initiatives and impact across the state. This role is responsible for the full video production process, including planning, filming and editing both long- and short-form content for a variety of platforms, such as social media, web and internal communications. The Videographer collaborates with SCDES program areas and the Office of Communications to ensure content is accurate, clear and aligned with the agency's mission and messaging. The incumbent produces a range of video content, including educational features, promotional pieces, event coverage and public information materials. This position also requires travel throughout South Carolina to capture footage at media events, press conferences, community outreach activities and agency initiatives. The Videographer ensures all final products meet quality standards, adhere to brand guidelines and effectively communicate key messages to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, and at least one (1) year experience working in video productions.
  • Knowledge of current photography, videography and graphic design equipment and software.
  • Knowledge of current photography and videography trends, concepts and styles.
  • Ability to understand and maintain all agency brands and the accurate deployment of those brands in various marketing collateral outputs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and through the written word.
  • Ability to provide audio/visual technical support.
  • Ability to maintain a coordinated and organized schedule for filming and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Write, storyboard, shoot, develop, and edit videos for various purposes, such as creating informative videos for the public, documenting agency events, creating public service announcements, and assisting with internal video communications.
  • Collaborate with the Communications teams, program staff and agency leadership to develop high-quality visual storytelling and engagement with the public.
  • Assist with non-traditional media like stories, reels for social media and interview recordings.
  • Assist with audio/video equipment as needed for agency agents and virtual meetings and troubleshoot A/V issues.
  • Maintain an organized schedule and calendar of video project components, due dates and deadlines
  • Assist with same basic/simple graphic design of forms, documents or graphics in between video projects.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
