About The Position
The Grand Island Independent in Grand Island, Nebraska, is seeking a videographer/photographer who can cover news, sports and features. We are a digital-first operation with priority on videos and photo galleries. We also strive to keep our print readers happy with the highest-quality photojournalism on our covers. We aim to run those photos big and bold. Attention-capturing visuals that capture the emotion of the moment are treasured. Candidates must be able to write accurate, grammatically correct captions and video copy. A typical day includes covering news or sports events with a quick turnaround, as well as an opportunity to find your own visual stories. You also may mentor reporters who take photos in Kearney and York, Nebraska.
Requirements
- Ability to produce timely visuals in today’s instant digital news environment is a must.
- Candidates must be able to write accurate, grammatically correct captions and video copy.
Nice To Haves
- Preference will be given to candidates with a degree, although internships and experience will be considered.
- New graduates/journalists are welcome to apply.
