About The Position
The 80,000 Hours video team produces high-production documentary-style YouTube videos focused on transformative AI and its risks. They are seeking individuals with strong operational ownership capabilities for potential future roles. This includes managing production logistics, hiring pipelines, launch operations, distribution and social media efforts, partnership coordination, and potentially people management.
Requirements
- High agency. Someone who can take a fuzzy problem, figure out what needs to happen, and run through walls to make it happen.
- Willingness to take on new areas, even if it's something you haven't done before
- Operations or chief of staff at a startup, studio, or small org
- Production management in video, film, or media
- Founding team / early employee at something that scaled
- Operations roles in EA, AI safety, or adjacent communities
- Ability to make things work
Responsibilities
- Production logistics — keeping shoots, post, and contractors moving
- Hiring pipelines — running searches, screening, work trials
- Launch operations — landing pages, CTAs, coordinating across stakeholders
- Distribution and social — getting videos in front of more people, including international audiences
- Partnership coordination — working with subjects, advisors, and other orgs
- Possibly people management
