Rogers Sports & Media is looking for a talented Video Journalist for OMNI to deliver stories that resonate with Canada’s ethno-cultural communities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism and a passion for storytelling. Requirements

  • Proven experience operating a video camera, writing, interviewing, and editing
  • Adaptable and won’t allow obstacles to stop you from producing a compelling story
  • Highly attentive to detail and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluent in the digital news space with an ability to identify trending stories on social media
  • A broadcast journalism diploma or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with live news and field production are assets
  • Bilingual an asset

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and covering Parliamentary, National and International stories for use by all language OMNI newscasts
  • Compiling video, writing scripts, and creating rough paper edits for various national and regional language teams to produce within their shows.
  • Sourcing, booking and feeding (in person) English and 3rd language clips from MPs, Cabinet Ministers, Senators around the Parliamentary precinct
  • Finding original stories in the Ottawa region and beyond that reflect and resonate with ethno-cultural communities in Canada
  • Shooting, editing, writing, reporting and on occasion presenting news stories on all platforms - including OMNI’s national newscasts and regional shows
  • Presenting scripted and unscripted coverage, live and recorded, as required by OMNI news teams
  • Organizing material and writing engaging, relevant and concise news stories under tight deadlines according to prescribed editorial style and format standards
  • Collaborating with a diverse team of innovative journalists at OMNI and CityNews
  • Building a strong network of contacts
