Video Journalist (English Services) (On-Site)
About The Position
CBC North is seeking a multi-platform journalist to join its two-person bureau in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories (NWT). The successful candidate will be expected to research, gather, package, and present news stories for radio, television, and digital platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of Fort Smith and the surrounding area, along with enthusiasm for generating story ideas, building relationships with sources, and producing creative video treatments. Excellent interpersonal skills, a comfortable and dynamic on-air presence, and demonstrated experience with video are essential. The ability to work independently, under the direction of assignment producers based in Yellowknife, is also crucial. This is a permanent, full-time, on-site position.
Requirements
- A university college or diploma in journalism or an equivalent combination of industry/life experience
- A minimum of two years in journalism or a related field
- A valid driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- A comfortable and dynamic on-air presence
- Demonstrated experience with video
Nice To Haves
- Experience using Avis systems
- The ability to speak a language Indigenous to the NWT
