Video Editor + Motion Designer (Remote | PT | 6 months)
About The Position
A Washington, DC-based strategic messaging firm is looking to engage an experienced Video Editor and Motion Designer in a part-time, remote, temporary role. This role is expected to start in September or possibly early October 2026 and continue for at least six months, with the potential for extension. The workload is anticipated to be between 20 to 30 hours per week. The firm is seeking individuals with regular dayside availability, but not necessarily fixed working hours. This opportunity is suitable for a full-time freelancer looking to add a significant client. Much of the work will support a specific corporate entity, involving explainer videos and short social media videos/animations. While field production and camera experience are not required, they are considered a plus, and there may be opportunities to participate in local shoots.

Responsibilities
- Produce mixed media videos that combine live action footage, photography and animation
- Create engaging social-first videos in various formats (vertical/square/horizontal)
- Edit a variety of content to include: live action, multi camera, and iPhone footage
- 2D animated video production (incl. familiarity w/ expressions and plug-ins)
- Adapting downloadable animated templates as needed
- Scripting and storyboarding
- Generating proxy footage
- Basic color correction
- Subtitling
- Curating B-roll and music libraries
