About The Position

The Prince George Victim/Witness Program is currently accepting applications for the position of Program Advocate. This position will be responsible for performing work to provide direct services and assistance to victims and witnesses of crimes and maintaining records and files.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Working knowledge of crisis intervention and counseling techniques.
  • Ability to deal with highly emotional or stressful situations.
  • Ability to assess the victim’s or witness’ immediate needs and ensure receipt of needed services through direct services or making appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Completion of college level courses in social sciences, criminal justice, or related fields.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred.
  • Some courtroom experience and/or victim advocacy experience is preferred.
