About The Position

This entry-level position in the victim-witness series provides services to victims and witnesses of crimes. The incumbent receives close supervision from the assigned supervisor. Most work is performed in an office environment; some physical effort and frequent travel may be required. The incumbent may be required to be on call during non-working hours and may be required to interact with a court facility dog. The schedule is Monday through Friday: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. The hourly rate is $24.292.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in criminal justice, social sciences, or a related field, or at least two years of work experience in the criminal justice system, criminal law, human services, or another related field.
Some knowledge of the criminal justice system, court proceedings, and procedures within the District Attorney’s Office.
Communication and organizational skills.
Ability to prepare reports and correspondence.
Ability to work with diverse individuals and agencies.

Responsibilities

Prepare victim and witness notifications of court and non-court events.
Create, organize, and maintain case files, including electronic files in the office case management system.
Assist victims with documents related to restitution, compensation, and return of property.
Educate victims and witnesses about the criminal justice process.
May accompany victims and/or witnesses to court proceedings.
May provide direction to program volunteers.
Network with community resources.
Perform other related job duties.
