About The Position

Performs general administrative and clerical duties to provide day-to-day assistance for crime victims seeking restitution through established legal processes. Works under general supervision and direction of the County Attorney, Chief Deputy County Attorneys, and Victim Service Coordinator. Part-time positions can work up to 25 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid State of Utah Driver License.
  • Must maintain compliance of Iron County and Cedar City vehicle policies – including maintaining an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass an extensive criminal background check.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; the criminal justice system and how it relates to victims; resources available to victims of crime
  • Ability to organize responsibilities; work unsupervised and accept responsibility for actions; learn and recommend new and improved procedures; maintain cooperative working relationships; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; maintain strict confidentiality with families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures handle the stress of deadlines; maintain accuracy, even when work is frequently interrupted; exercise initiative, independent judgment and act resourcefully in varying conditions
  • Skill in dealing with angry or upset patrons.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field and at least one (1) year of related victim advocate work experience or a combination of equivalent work, volunteer, and/or educational experience is preferred.
