About The Position

The Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Accreditation serves as a senior academic leader and principal advisor to the Provost on all matters related to faculty affairs, academic quality, and accreditation. This position provides strategic leadership and executive oversight of faculty personnel systems, academic program assessment, and institutional and specialized accreditation processes. The Vice Provost ensures that the University not only meets but exceeds regional and programmatic accreditation standards by embedding a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high-quality academic practice across all academic units. This role requires demonstrated success in guiding faculty, departments, and academic leadership across multiple schools and colleges in coordinated, institution-wide accreditation and assessment activities, ensuring alignment, consistency, and shared ownership of outcomes.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Tenured faculty status at the rank of full professor (or qualifications appropriate for senior academic leadership).
  • Significant senior-level academic administrative experience (e.g., dean, associate provost, vice provost).
  • Demonstrated leadership in institutional and/or specialized accreditation processes, including successful outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in academic program assessment and student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success guiding faculty across multiple schools and colleges in coordinated, unit-wide accreditation and assessment activities.
  • Deep knowledge of faculty affairs, including tenure, promotion, shared governance, and faculty evaluation systems.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation standards, compliance requirements, and higher education policy.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in a higher education environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a unionized higher education environment and familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Demonstrated success leading institutional accreditation self-studies (e.g., MSCHE or equivalent).
  • Experience implementing or overseeing academic assessment systems and data platforms.
  • National recognition or leadership in accreditation, assessment, or faculty affairs.
  • Experience leading General Education reform or large-scale curriculum transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the University’s lead academic officer for accreditation strategy, compliance, and reporting.
  • Provide executive oversight for all regional accreditation processes (e.g., MSCHE), including self-study development, monitoring, reporting, and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure institutional compliance with accreditation standards related to faculty qualifications, student learning outcomes, and academic program quality.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of accreditation reports, ensuring audit-ready documentation across all academic and administrative units.
  • Advise the Provost and senior leadership on accreditation risks, trends, and required institutional responses.
  • Coordinate and align accreditation efforts across all colleges and schools to ensure a unified, institution-wide approach.
  • Provide strategic leadership for institution-wide academic program assessment and student learning outcomes.
  • Establish and enforce standards for assessment practices aligned with accreditation expectations and national best practices.
  • Oversee integration of assessment into program review, General Education, and curriculum development processes.
  • Ensure accountability for assessment outcomes across all colleges and schools.
  • Lead cross-college collaboration to ensure consistency, rigor, and comparability in assessment practices and reporting.
  • Provide executive oversight for all faculty-related processes, including appointments, reappointments, tenure, promotion, sabbaticals, and post-tenure review.
  • Ensure consistency, transparency, and compliance of faculty personnel processes in alignment with institutional policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Advise the Provost on faculty workload, productivity, evaluation systems, and strategic workforce planning.
  • Oversee faculty credentialing and ensure compliance with accreditation standards related to faculty qualifications.
  • Lead the development, interpretation, and implementation of academic and faculty policies.
  • Ensure University compliance with accreditation standards, federal and regulatory requirements, and internal governance frameworks.
  • Serve as the Provost’s primary advisor on policy implications related to academic quality, faculty affairs, and accreditation.
  • Align institutional policies with national best practices and evolving accreditation expectations.
  • Serve as a senior liaison to faculty governance bodies, including the Faculty Senate and academic standing committees.
  • Promote shared governance, transparency, and collaboration in academic decision-making.
  • Guide faculty leadership on matters related to accreditation, assessment, and academic policy.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement among faculty and academic leaders.
  • Facilitate coordinated faculty engagement across colleges and schools in institution-wide accreditation and assessment initiatives.
  • Partner with Academic Deans and senior leadership to advance academic quality, program relevance, and student success outcomes.
  • Lead institution-wide initiatives such as General Education reform, academic program alignment with workforce needs, and curricular innovation.
  • Address emerging issues in higher education, including the impact of artificial intelligence on teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the Provost on academic priorities, risks, and opportunities.
  • Oversee systems that support academic assessment, accreditation reporting, and faculty data management.
  • Ensure effective use of data to inform academic decision-making and program improvement.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and Information Technology to enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and assessment platforms.
  • Promote transparency and accountability in the use of academic data across all units.
