The anticipated salary range for this role is between $140,000.00 and $180,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in information management or a related field plus 3 years of experience.
  • Experience must include the following: data management; data quality rules, SQL, Oracle database; data lineage; regulatory and financial reporting; project management; and data governance.
  • The required skills do not need to be maintained over the full term of required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of prioritized Finance data governance initiatives/workstreams.
  • Lead the identification and establishment of the Key Data Uses (KDU) inventory for the Finance function.
  • Establish the process for the identification and onboarding of the Key Data Elements (KDEs) for the identified KDUs, including documenting definitions, gathering, and validating technical metadata, liaising with data owners and data stewards, as per the guidelines from the Chief Data office team.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain key aspects of the firms Data Lineage exercise - in line with best practices and industry expectations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of data quality controls & rules that meet the standards laid out by the Chief Data office team.
  • Support the Finance functions ongoing initiative to source reference data from the firm’s strategic data sources.
  • Perform gap assessments against data policies, standards, and reporting (management or regulatory) requirements to identify any data risks and determine remediation plans. Identify data quality issues /exceptions and ensure they are captured in the data quality issues repository.
  • Work closely with the Finance data governance team to perform root cause analysis of the data quality issues and drive remediation.
  • Partner with Finance SMEs, Chief Data Office, IT, and other stakeholders in implementing target state data controls and data governance framework.
