About The Position

The Global Credit Finance (GCF) division at State Street provides a range of financial solutions to support clients across the bank. We are a global division with approximately 150 employees in various locations worldwide. The Asset Owner and Insurance Lending team within GCF provides liquidity and credit solutions to a diverse set of State Street clients across the asset owner and insurance segments, including municipalities, non‑profits, corporates, and insurance companies. We are seeking a Vice President to serve as the credit officer responsible for independent credit risk oversight across this portfolio. The role spans the full credit lifecycle, encompassing underwriting, credit approval, and ongoing portfolio surveillance, with responsibility for maintaining strong credit quality and adherence to risk standards.

Requirements

  • Strong first line credit risk expertise
  • Excellent analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Effective collaboration with relationship managers and internal partners
  • Sound credit judgment in applying policies and risk appetite to individual exposures and the broader portfolio
  • Understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements applicable to commercial lending
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, accounting, or a related field
  • 8–10 years of credit experience in a commercial lending environment, including corporate, municipal, insurance, and/or not‑for‑profit exposures

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CFA, or similar advanced credential preferred
  • Formal credit training program experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee credit approval process for new credit exposures and modifications, including renewals, amendments, and waivers, supported by comprehensive written credit analyses and clear risk recommendations
  • Monitor portfolio credit quality through ongoing surveillance, annual reviews, internal risk ratings, and proactive identification and escalation of emerging risks
  • Ensure adherence to credit policies and underwriting standards, advising on policy enhancements as needed
  • Prepare reporting, analytics, and management updates on portfolio, including any watch list exposures, for senior management and risk committees, as appropriate
  • Train and provide mentorship to junior staff on credit processes
