About The Position

The Vice President of Supply Chain provides enterprise leadership for Nutramax’s end-to-end supply chain strategy across internal operations and the Contract Manufacturing network. This role is accountable for Integrated Business Planning (IBP), Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), global sourcing and procurement, packaging material specifications, warehousing, distribution, kitting, inventory management, and customer fulfillment. The VP ensures supply continuity, regulatory compliance, cost competitiveness, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, innovation-driven nutraceuticals environment. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this leader partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Quality, Engineering, Regulatory, Product Development, and Manufacturing Operations to advance Nutramax’s long-term strategic objectives, strengthen supplier resilience, and build organizational capability.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of supply chain leadership experience in manufacturing or regulated industries (nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, food, or similar).
Strong organizational, servant leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, email-driven environment.
SAP working knowledge and computer literacy in a Windows environment; advanced proficiency in supply chain systems preferred.

Nice To Haves

MBA strongly preferred, ideally with concentration in Supply Chain, Operations, or Strategic Management.
Experience in FDA-regulated or cGMP manufacturing environments.
Demonstrated success leading IBP and S&OP processes.
Experience with global sourcing, supplier development, and packaging materials management.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a multi-year supply chain strategy aligned with Nutramax’s mission, growth objectives, and regulated manufacturing requirements.
Serve as the strategic liaison among Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing Operations to support timely, cost-effective delivery of new and existing products.
Align Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Quality, Regulatory, and Product Development around product launches, demand planning, and customer requirements.
Build organizational capability through the Nutramax Leadership Model and Lighthouse Learning System.
Own the enterprise IBP cycle, aligning demand, supply, inventory, financial plans, and strategic priorities.
Lead long-range capacity planning, scenario modeling, and risk mitigation for raw materials, packaging components, and distribution.
Ensure IBP guides capital planning, supplier strategy, and operational readiness for new product introductions.
Lead a disciplined monthly S&OP process that synchronizes demand forecasting, supply planning, inventory strategy, and financial commitments.
Improve forecast accuracy through clear governance, consistent assumptions, and defined accountability.
Use S&OP to guide trade-off decisions, service-level commitments, and cross-functional alignment.
Maintain inventory health, optimize working capital, and strengthen service-level performance.
Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for raw materials, nutraceutical actives, excipients, packaging materials, and outsourced services to support supply continuity, cost competitiveness, and business growth.
Own category and commodity management for direct materials and indirect spend, including supplier segmentation, cost-reduction roadmaps, and risk mitigation plans aligned with business objectives.
Establish and maintain a qualified supplier network that meets applicable regulatory, quality, environmental, safety, and compliance requirements, including FDA, cGMP, DSHEA, and other relevant standards.
Lead strategic negotiations for raw materials, packaging, transportation, logistics, capital equipment, indirect services, and vendor agreements, including long-term supply contracts and other commercial arrangements that optimize value and reduce risk.
Apply Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles to procurement decisions, balancing cost, quality, service, risk, and sustainability.
Strengthen supplier partnerships and qualify new sources of supply to support innovation, business continuity, capacity expansion, and long-term growth.
Implement supplier performance management processes, including KPIs, business reviews, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee the creation, approval, and maintenance of packaging material specifications for bottles, caps, labels, cartons, and printed components.
Ensure packaging materials meet regulatory, quality, stability, and performance requirements for nutraceutical products.
Partner with Quality, Product Development, and Marketing to ensure packaging supports brand standards, manufacturability, and cost targets.
Advance packaging improvements through supplier innovation, sustainability initiatives, and cost optimization.
Build and lead a Supplier Development Program to expand and strengthen the supplier base.
Establish leading indicators for supplier risk, including: Capacity utilization, On-time delivery trends, Quality defect rates, Financial health signals, Responsiveness and communication metrics.
Conduct structured supplier performance reviews and implement corrective action plans.
Develop dual-sourcing strategies and supplier capability roadmaps to reduce dependency and increase resilience.
Partner with suppliers to drive innovation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.
Lead warehousing, distribution, kitting, and materials management to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
Promote lean initiatives, standard work, and automation to improve throughput, reduce cost, and enhance quality.
Ensure adherence to safety procedures, SOPs, GMPs, and regulatory standards.
Support productivity measurement, variance analysis, and issue resolution across all facilities.
Reinforce standards for product quality, equipment performance, and operator excellence.
Oversee customer support functions to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality service.
Coordinate and resolve issues related to new and existing products, supply shortages, and cross-functional dependencies.
Interact with internal and external customers to ensure all requirements are met.
Build a high-performing supply chain team with strong bench strength and leadership succession.
Recruit, hire, train, and develop supply chain and operations leaders.
Provide clear communication, direction, and feedback across all operational teams.
Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Supervise supply chain staff.
Enforce Safe Work Practices: Supervisors are responsible for enforcing safe work practices and procedures. Failure to do so increases the risk of accidents. Supervisors must also encourage employees to identify and report unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards.
Correct Unsafe Conditions: Supervisors must take immediate action to correct unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards within their authority and ability. If a condition or hazard cannot be corrected immediately, the supervisor must implement temporary precautionary measures and follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
Prevent Lingering Hazards: Supervisors are responsible for training employees and periodically reminding them how to recognize, correct, or report unsafe conditions or hazards. When a hazard is identified, the supervisor must take appropriate action to correct it or escalate it for resolution.
Incident Response: Immediately ensure first aid is provided by an ERT member and confirm there is no immediate danger to others. Arrange additional medical treatment, emergency transportation, or rescue/response support as needed.
EHS Notification and Documentation: Immediately notify EHS when an employee seeks medical treatment for a work-related incident. Ensure the employee completes the required sections of the safety incident report.
Incident Report and Initial Investigation: Complete the incident report and email it to Incident Response before the end of the shift. Begin the incident investigation by securing the scene, keeping it unchanged when possible, collecting the facts accurately, and obtaining photos if needed.
Root Cause Investigation and Corrective Actions: Coordinate with EHS to form a cross-functional team and conduct a 5 Why root cause investigation. Other investigation tools may be used for more complex incidents. The cross-functional team will agree on corrective actions based on the identified root cause. Once the investigation is complete and approved by the team, email the completed investigation to Incident Reporting.
