About The Position

The Mandatory Reference Checking Scheme (“MRC”) for Hong Kong is a framework to facilitate Authorized Institutions (“AIs”) to bilaterally obtain reference information during their recruitment process for certain positions, such that misconduct information in an individual’s previous employments can be provided to AIs to inform their employment decisions. Responsibilities

  • Support frontline and adhere to anti-money laundering / counter terrorist financing requirement and sanction risks controls in accordance with regulatory standards and CNCBI policies.
  • Asset Disposal & Recovery, including but not limited to identify potential buyers for troubled loans; market commercial property collateral and OREO assets; engage investors to accelerate asset liquidation; maximize financial recovery on non-performing assets.
  • Borrower Negotiation & Loan Restructuring, including but not limited to negotiate directly with defaulting commercial borrowers; secure additional collateral and loan protections; partner with legal counsel to modify loan terms; collaborate with agent banks and syndication partners.
  • Litigation & Foreclosure Management, including but not limited to track progress of ongoing bank lawsuits; provide strategic legal action advice to management; oversee the commercial foreclosure process end-to-end; ensure compliance with regulatory and legal frameworks.
  • Risk Prevention & Analysis, including but not limited to review existing commercial real estate loan portfolios; check loan credit and legal file quality; identify early-stage default and credit risks; implement proactive interventions to prevent non-performance; report portfolio risk trends to head of risk department; qua.
  • Assist department head on managing credit risk, including but not limited to, Ensure CA package is accurate and complete before submit it to head of risk department or Credit Committee for credit decision. Cross check supporting/original documents with information presenting in CA, check background and negative news of borrower/sponsor/guarantor/ultimate owner, review projections and stress test, and review credit rating, etc.
  • Evaluate credit proposals/reviews, analyze financial statements, risk factors and mitigations, prepare recommendations, and discuss with department head to draft credit comments.
  • Manage loan closing to ensure all approval conditions are satisfied, risk issues brought up by closing lawyer are escalated for proper approval, and all allowed missing documents are reported to credit admin for tracking.
  • Monitor covenants/ internal control alerts and /or other provisions in loan documentation.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of the credit portfolio and pay attention to the early warning signals of credit accounts.
  • Assist to update branch credit risk related policies and procedures.
  • Assist and back up for credit risk management related vendor management, include real estate appraisers, law firms, credit rating agents, etc.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of Risk and senior management.
