Requirements

  • 10+ years in healthcare revenue cycle and financial leadership roles required.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a net revenue budget of $500M+ across multiple specialties or markets required.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating and managing resource utilization, incorporating offshore vendor resource implementation and adoption of automation or AI resources required.
  • Proven ownership of P&L and large-scale financial operations required.
  • Proven track record of presenting financial performance, variance analysis, and strategic recommendations to a CFO, Board of Directors, or equivalent executive body required.
  • Deep expertise in reimbursement, payer dynamics, and revenue optimization required.
  • Strong track record of driving measurable financial improvement required.
  • Experience in oversight of a budget, revenue and expense management.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution of short term and long-term plans.
  • Strategic, visionary, and innovative leadership.
  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships and work collaboratively across multiple business functions.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA with healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • CRCE (Certified Revenue Cycle Executive — AAHAM) preferred.
  • Experience in physician enterprise or multi-specialty acute care RCM spanning Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Anesthesiology, and/or Radiology preferred.
  • Experience leading revenue cycle financial due diligence for M&A or new practice acquisitions preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI/automation ROI modeling in a revenue cycle context preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Co-own the RCM P&L with the EVP of RCM, including revenue, cost structure, EBITDA, and cash flow performance.
  • Own and actively manage the full RCM cost budget, including internal staffing and FTE planning, external billing RCM, and technology investments; establish cost-per-unit benchmarks (e.g., cost to collect, cost per claim) and conduct monthly variance analysis to identify inefficiencies, rightsizing opportunities, and ROI gaps across all operational spend.
  • Drive enterprise-wide initiatives to accelerate cash collection, improve yield, and enhance cost efficiency.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on financial performance benchmarks including net collection rate, gross-to-net revenue realization, days in AR, denial, write-off rates, and bad debt allowance.
  • Oversee monthly revenue recognition processes, working in concert with Accounting and FP&A to ensure revenue is accurately stated in accordance with GAAP and applicable healthcare accounting standards.
  • Build and maintain long-range financial models incorporating growth, acquisitions, payer mix dynamics, and resource management strategies.
  • Partner with Finance on forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis related to the revenue cycle.
  • Oversee net collection rate, AR performance, denial rates, and payer yield.
  • Establish data-driven accountability across the full revenue cycle.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for pricing optimization, contract improvement, and reimbursement uplift.
  • Quantify payer trends and their impact on net revenue, proactively surfacing financial risks to the CFO and executive team.
  • Monitor Self-Pay Strategy to ensure maximum reimbursement for self-pay and patient responsibility after insurance, recommending improvements and opportunities that are scalable and meet PCI and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure RCM operations and resources are aligned with financial targets and growth objectives.
  • Measure and drive efficiency through automation, technology, and process redesign.
  • Evaluate ROI on technology, vendors, and internal investments.
  • Support integration of acquisitions with a focus on financial performance and scalability.
  • Ensure financial and regulatory compliance across all RCM activities.
  • Working with Compliance, maintaining strong internal controls related to billing, collections, payment reconciliation, quality and reporting.
  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting reimbursement and revenue recognition.
  • Serve as the financial voice of RCM with executive leadership and the Board.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and finance teams to align incentives and outcomes.
  • Build a performance-driven culture with clear accountability for results.
