About The Position

LiveWire Construction, Inc. is seeking a results-driven and visionary executive to serve as Vice President of its Renewable Energy Business Unit, one of the company's fastest-growing business units. This role holds full executive responsibility for the Business Unit's operational strategy, business performance, financial results, and market growth. They will lead the Business Unit's leadership team, own the Business Unit’s profit-and-loss statement, direct contract review and negotiation, and sustain a continuous high-level business development pipeline. The Vice President of Renewable Energy will bring deep industry expertise, strong financial acumen, and the strategic foresight to position LiveWire as a leader in renewable energy.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand, produce, analyze, and scrutinize construction financial reports, including Work in Progress reports; intimate understanding of what drives construction financials and job cost performance
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, technical procedures, government regulations, and detailed technical manuals
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with a wide range of internal and external audiences in order to negotiate, direct leaders, and explain policies and decisions
  • Ability to prepare and deliver executive-level reports and presentations, and to review and markup correspondence and presentations produced by direct reports
  • Ability to distinguish between process and procedure, identify gaps requiring controls, and direct the creation and revision of both
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to manage difficult or high-tension situations with customers, vendors, and stakeholders in a way that reflects positively on the LiveWire brand
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs with skillful mastery of Excel; open to learning new systems that add value to the organization
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive executive leadership experience with increasing responsibility, the majority of which must be in the construction industry
  • Experience reading blueprints, building plans, specifications, and contract documents; labor review and tracking experience
  • Current OSHA 30 certification required
  • Current First Aid / CPR certification required
  • Must submit to background check, physical, credit check, and MVR

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, BA, or BS in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred but not required
  • Renewable energy, solar, and electrical infrastructure construction experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Directs and shapes the long-range strategy of the Renewable Energy Business Unit, including market positioning, service offering, geographic reach, and target client mix
  • Collaborates with the President and Executive Vice President to define and execute long-term business strategy for the Business Unit
  • Drives Business Unit’s goals, profitability, and performance benchmarks across all departments within the Business Unit
  • Establishes operational policies and strategic initiatives that align the Business Unit with organizational goals
  • Provides insight and leadership in capital investment planning and equipment utilization strategy
  • Monitors renewable energy market conditions, incentive structures, interconnection trends, and regulatory developments, and adjusts Business Unit’s strategy accordingly
  • Prepares and delivers Business Unit’s performance, forecast, and strategy presentations to the Executive Vice President and President
  • Represents LiveWire to owners, developers, utilities, outside agencies, and professional and community organizations
  • Owns the Business Unit’s P&L and is accountable for consistent, profitable Business Unit performance
  • Provides executive oversight of operational budgets, job costing, and project profitability
  • Reviews financial forecast data with the CFO and adjusts Business Unit’s performance to meet company goals and objectives
  • Leads quarterly and annual business reviews to assess financial health and margin trends
  • Monitors Business Unit and project-level KPIs to proactively address variances and underperformance
  • Partners with Finance and Estimating to assess bid accuracy, pricing strategy, and revenue forecasting
  • Analyzes backlog and pipeline projections to inform resource allocation and business planning
  • Identifies and implements cost-saving measures and process improvements that enhance operational efficiency
  • Conducts oversight reviews of contracts and leads negotiations on Business Unit’s agreements, liaising with LiveWire legal counsel when necessary
  • Evaluates and negotiates vendor and subcontractor contracts to optimize cost and value
  • Oversees Business Unit’s project risk assessment and mitigation strategies to safeguard profitability and reputation
  • Directs the identification of delays and impacts and the preparation of associated notices, change orders, and claims
  • Manages the Business Unit's contractual risk position, including scope, schedule, warranty, and indemnity exposure
  • Ensures Business Unit’s compliance with prevailing wage requirements, project labor agreements, and applicable union obligations
  • Drives a continuous high-level business development pipeline and implements strategies designed to scale the Business Unit
  • Identifies and pursues new clients and work opportunities that support the strategic vision; informs executive management of potential projects with current clients
  • Participates in bid review meetings to verify costs and scopes of work before submission to the President
  • Leads proposal strategy, pricing posture, and go / no-go decisions on major pursuits
  • Engages in key and targeted customer relationship-building and industry networking activities
  • Reviews marketing materials and leads presentations for business development meetings
  • Ensures safe, on-time delivery of quality projects resulting in customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Provides executive oversight of Business Unit’s operations, including all pre-construction phases of work: budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contract development, shop drawings and submittals, design coordination, and means and methods review
  • Owns project outcomes; monitors actual versus budget performance and directs plans to mitigate potential losses
  • Drives accountability across teams for meeting budget, timeline, and quality benchmarks
  • Ensures schedule discipline across the Business Unit’s portfolio and develops scheduling capability in operating leaders
  • Identifies, establishes, and enforces processes, procedures, and policies that improve operational efficiency and close control gaps
  • Establishes quality control standards and ensures quality is embedded in operational execution
  • Maintains sufficient technical depth to challenge project assumptions and support leaders through complex or high-risk situations
  • Provides visible, leadership-level engagement in creating, implementing, and driving Business Unit and companywide safety initiatives
  • Identifies and tracks safety trends; directs corrective action including training and accountability structures as needed
  • Owns team performance; develops, coaches, and retains a high-performing Business Unit’s leadership team
  • Fosters a collaborative, healthy culture across field and office teams that retains key employees and drives accountability, growth, and operational discipline
  • Leads talent recruiting and hiring for the Business Unit and oversees key talent development programs
  • Supports workforce planning, succession strategies, and talent development in collaboration with HR
