Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and a graduate degree desired.
  • More than 10 years experience in the automotive industry
  • Communication skills, decision making ability, power of conviction, ability to work under pressure, positive attitude to new experiences and change
  • Presentation skills, project management skills, facilitation skills
  • General understand and awareness of functional competencies (e.g. legal aspects of purchasing, concept of material group, supply chain management) is required
  • MS Office, SAP
  • Leadership skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the North American purchasing strategy aligned with global commodity and business objectives. Drive long-term value creation through cost optimization, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing purchasing organization. Design organizational structure, workforce planning, and succession strategies
  • Oversee all regional sourcing activities (direct and indirect) ensuring alignment with global commodity strategies. Establish and maintain a competitive, resilient, and sustainable supply base.
  • Ensure suppliers meet expectations in quality, delivery, cost, innovation, and financial stability. Strengthening supplier development and risk management frameworks
  • Oversee and support negotiations for high-value and strategic contracts. Ensure all supplier agreements meet legal, compliance, and corporate governance standards
  • Own regional purchasing budgets and deliver against cost-saving and value-improvement targets.
  • Partner with regional plants, business divisions, and global purchasing leadership. Act as key interface between North America and global headquarters.
  • Ensure adherence to global purchasing processes, systems, and policies. Drive continuous improvement and digitalization of purchasing processes (e.g., SAP, analytics tools).
  • Promote supplier-driven innovation and early supplier involvement. Support sustainability, ESG, and responsible sourcing initiatives.
  • Lead proactive supply chain risk identification and mitigation strategies. Ensure business continuity planning across critical suppliers and commodities.
