Requirements

  • 10+ years in product management, with 4+ years at Director or VP level in healthcare or health technology
  • Demonstrated experience building product operating models and product culture — not just managing an existing one
  • Deep understanding of clinical workflows, physician experience, and patient digital engagement in a healthcare setting
  • Experience owning products at the intersection of clinical and operational domains (scheduling, care coordination, facility ops)
  • Track record of shipping meaningful products that changed measurable business outcomes — not just features
  • Experience managing design (UX) as an integral part of the product function
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills — able to represent the user in rooms full of operational and financial pressure
  • Earns trust from clinicians by demonstrating clinical context — knows what an OR day actually looks like
  • Comfortable operating without a fully formed playbook — creates structure from ambiguity
  • Partners authentically with Engineering — understands the cost of technical debt and respects engineering judgment
  • Builds team identity and product culture — makes product management a career destination at SCA Health
  • Gives and receives direct feedback — runs a team where honest assessment is the norm

Nice To Haves

  • Ambulatory surgery, ASC, or multi-site specialty care experience
  • Experience building products on or alongside EHR platforms (Epic, Athena, Meditech)
  • Familiarity with FDA-regulated software and SaMD considerations for digital health products
  • Experience embedding AI/ML capabilities into clinical or operational product experiences
  • Track record building physician-facing products and earning physician trust at the partnership level
  • Experience in a PE-backed or high-growth, multi-site healthcare organization
  • Outcome-based product management — measures success in clinical and business results, not feature delivery velocity
  • Discovery discipline — validates problems and solutions rigorously before committing to build
  • Prioritization rigor — makes explicit trade-offs and defends them with evidence, not politics
  • Design partnership — treats UX as a strategic capability, not a service function
  • Data fluency — uses product analytics and clinical data to drive roadmap decisions
  • Build/buy judgment — evaluates vendor solutions with appropriate skepticism and specificity

Responsibilities

  • Define SCA Health's product strategy across the patient, clinician, and facility operations domains.
  • Own the multi-year product roadmap, translate enterprise strategic priorities into product bets, and make explicit prioritization decisions when demand exceeds capacity.
  • Build the operating model that governs how product work gets done at SCA — discovery practices, intake and prioritization, delivery rhythm, measurement frameworks, and the relationship between Product, Engineering, and Data & AI.
  • Inherit a portfolio of 'immature' and undefined capability initiatives. Audit, name, scope, and make explicit decisions about each: accelerate, restructure, or retire. Establish a structured incubation model with time-boxed experiments, clear success criteria, and transparent graduation/retirement gates.
  • Own the product strategy for patient-facing digital experiences and clinical workflow tools — scheduling, access, pre/post-op digital journey, physician performance dashboards, and the clinical decision support interfaces that AI will eventually power.
  • Own the product strategy for operational tools that improve facility throughput, OR utilization, supply chain efficiency, and staff management. These products directly impact EBITDA at the facility level and require deep operational partnership with COO, VP SCO and facility leadership.
  • Build SCA's shared design capability — UX research practice, interaction design, the SCA Health design system, and accessibility standards. Ensure that every product SCA builds meets clinical usability and patient health literacy requirements.
  • Chair SCA Health's Product Council — the governance body that aligns product priorities with enterprise strategy, resolves prioritization conflicts, and ensures clinical and operational stakeholders have a voice in what gets built.
  • Own the make-or-source decision framework for the product portfolio. Assess vendor solutions rigorously against build options and ensure every buy decision preserves SCA's ability to integrate, customize, and own the user experience.
