Vice President, Product Operations

Thomson ReutersToronto, ON
$220,200 - $408,900Hybrid

About The Position

Thomson Reuters is seeking a leader to define and drive the AI-era operating model for its 400+ person Product Management organization. This is a hands-on, builder-operator role focused on demonstrating the future of AI in product development. The Vice President will own the future of the PM craft, set the standard for AI-era Product Managers, and personally showcase the modern AI development stack. This includes setting up tools like Claude Code with GitHub integration, building agentic prototyping workflows, establishing evaluation frameworks, managing prompt libraries, and implementing AI cost attribution. The role also involves establishing a unified operating model across Product, Engineering, and Design, ensuring consistent practices, transparency, and shared knowledge management. Additionally, the VP will oversee AI tool governance, including sanctioned tools, license management, adoption tracking, ROI measurement, and FinOps for LLMs. A small, high-leverage execution team of 3-5 senior doers will support this role, focusing on shipping the future rather than just coordinating. Capability uplift programs for AI fluency, agentic design, evaluation discipline, and outcome ownership across the PM organization are also key responsibilities. Year one outcomes include high adoption of sanctioned AI tools, a live shared evaluation framework for AI features, demonstrable cycle-time reduction in prototyping, visible PM craft uplift with agentic prototyping capability, and a production-ready shared knowledge management spine.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in product or product operations leadership.
  • 3+ years building AI-native products in production.
  • Hands-on experience with the modern AI stack: Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, v0 / Lovable / Bolt, evaluation tooling (Braintrust, LangSmith, or equivalent), RAG architectures, agent frameworks.
  • Led transformation at scale in a 200+ PM organization.
  • Built and led small high-leverage teams.
  • Cross-functional executive influence without formal authority.
  • Independent and self-driven, able to set own agenda.
  • Technically fluent and hands-on, capable of pairing on Claude Code with an engineer.
  • Charismatic communicator and driver, able to inspire others.
  • A builder, not a process designer; instinct to demonstrate, ship, and create reusable infrastructure.
  • Future-oriented operator with experience in AI-native organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulated industries (legal, financial services, healthcare) where AI governance is non-trivial.
  • Founder or early-employee experience at an AI-native company that scaled.
  • Public technical thought leadership (blog posts, talks, open-source contributions, published frameworks).
  • Track record of pulling existing organizations through cultural transformation, not just greenfield builds.
  • Experience in preferred organizations such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Stripe, Linear, Notion, Figma, Atlassian, Intuit, Shopify, Adobe, ServiceNow, or comparable AI-forward orgs.
