About The Position

The Vice President of Youth Development is a visionary and strategic leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive youth development and community impact strategy across the YMCA of Central Florida. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position provides Association-wide leadership for Youth Development, Youth Sports, School Age Programs, Family Programming, Community Impact Family Centers, and related initiatives that advance the YMCA's mission and community impact. The Vice President collaborates with cross-functional leaders, community stakeholders, local government, schools, nonprofit organizations, and funding partners to expand access, strengthen partnerships, and drive innovative, high-quality programs that promote youth achievement, child safety, healthy living, and family engagement. The role is accountable for operational excellence, program quality, talent development, strategic growth, and identifying opportunities to expand the YMCA's reach and impact throughout the communities it serves.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in child / youth development, education, recreation, or equivalent; Masters Degree a plus
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in youth development, out-of-school-time or similar settings, with demonstrated success in managing multi-site operations and leading teams required.
  • Demonstrated success in budget management and partnership development is essential.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making and developing assessment tools for program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to develop, execute, and achieve organizational strategies and measurable results.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and sound judgment with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working with a diverse community.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business technologies, including financial, data management, and reporting systems; experience with HRIS, CRM, and business intelligence platforms preferred.
  • Must complete successful background and drug screening, which includes criminal and employment verification. Some positions may additionally require a successful credit check screening.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Association's youth development strategy, ensuring alignment with YMCA values, community needs, and best practices while establishing a continuum of programming from early childhood through young adulthood.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative curriculum and programs that promote academic achievement, college and career readiness, workforce development, child safety, and positive youth outcomes.
  • Serve as a member of the Association Management Team, collaborating with senior leadership to advance Association-wide strategic initiatives and organizational objectives.
  • Provide strategic oversight of Association-wide youth development operations by establishing quality standards, standardized operating procedures, program evaluation systems, and continuous improvement initiatives that ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, child safety, and achievement of departmental KPIs and financial goals.
  • Partner with Finance, Membership, Information Technology, Development, and other Association departments to strengthen business processes, evaluate resource and capital needs, and advance the long-term sustainability of youth development programs.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor and follow the Association’s current Crisis Management Plan.
  • Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships with schools, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and community stakeholders to expand access, secure funding, advocate for youth, and address critical community needs.
  • Provide strategic leadership and support to Community Outreach Family Centers, coaching Center leadership to achieve operational excellence, financial sustainability, community impact, and key performance objectives.
  • Collaborate with Chief Development Officer and Development team to advance programmatic philanthropy goals and sustainability to youth programming.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team by fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, professional development, inclusion, and continuous learning.
  • Lead professional development initiatives to ensure staff are well-trained in current trends, child safety, and effective youth engagement strategies.
  • Drive strategic growth through outcome measurement, data analysis, grant development, contract oversight, stakeholder engagement, program expansion, and identification of new service opportunities that advance the YMCA's mission.
  • Create and distribute reports and data analysis.
