About The Position

The Vice President of Public Relations - Sports & Entertainment will lead the strategic development and execution of high‑impact communications initiatives that position MGM Resorts at the forefront of innovation in sports, entertainment and gaming. This role oversees PR strategy for the company’s vast and diverse sports and entertainment offerings including but not limited to original, company-owned marquee events; partner/promoter-led special events and shows; residency launches and resident productions; integration into citywide events; venue-specific initiatives; and casino innovation – digital and otherwise. The VP of Sports & Entertainment PR will serve as a strategic architect and senior advisor, aligning communications with enterprise-level priorities and the long-term vision of the company, while driving innovative, measurable PR programs across traditional media, digital ecosystems and emerging content platforms. This leader will cultivate a high-performing team of PR professionals, fostering a positive, collaborative, and results-driven environment that supports MGM Resorts’ commitment to excellence, creativity and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Sports & Entertainment Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in Public Relations or Communications.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing PR strategies from the ground up.
  • Strong writing, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Deep understanding of traditional and digital media.
  • Ability to stay attuned to trends across entertainment, sports, travel, hospitality, pop culture, and food & beverage.
  • Ability to thrive in highly matrixed environments, collaborating cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to drive results.
  • Experience within sports, entertainment, hospitality, travel, culinary, or luxury sectors is key.
  • Strategic thinker and effective leader, capable of planning, executing, and inspiring high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead companywide Sports & Entertainment PR initiatives alongside the SVP of PR, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and competitive positioning.
  • Develop and deploy innovative strategic communications plans for the full entertainment and sports ecosystem—live events, arenas/theaters, residencies, productions, sports partnerships, and sports betting.
  • Oversee day-to-day PR initiatives across Las Vegas entertainment, sports, events, venues, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, property teams, corporate divisions, and citywide partners to maximize visibility and impact.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with global sports, entertainment and lifestyle media, influencers, event partners, and other external stakeholders to enhance brand reputation.
  • Generate national and international media coverage across a wide range of professional and collegiate sports, large-scale events, festivals, awards shows, residencies, touring shows, and resident production shows.
  • Develop and execute integrated storytelling strategies across earned, social, and other emerging content platforms.
  • Monitor industry trends, pop culture, and innovations to evolve PR strategies and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Provide executive counsel and media coaching to senior leaders.
  • Manage PR agencies, partnerships, and budgets to ensure strategic alignment and measurable results.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing PR team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support regional and international resort communications as needed.
