About The Position

The Vice President of Institutional Advancement will establish priorities, objectives, measurable outcomes, and best practices for a comprehensive advancement program. This position will serve as the organization’s lead strategist for both fundraising and external communications, managing a tristate advancement team in the execution of that plan. This position will also ensure effective agency fund development elements including donor acquisition and engagement, fundraising events, direct mail campaigns, and major gift cultivation.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field with at least five (5) years fundraising experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of senior leadership experience with extensive knowledge and application of major gift development, marketing, and multi-state communications and appeals
  • Experience managing electronic Donor Database Systems

  • Master’s degree in business or related field
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive certification (CFRE)
  • Blackbaud donor database certification

Responsibilities

  • Advises the Executive Vice President & Chief Business Officer, advancement committee of the board, and executive staff of current resources, trends, obstacles, and developments in communications and fundraising
  • Establishes and implements short and long-range resource development strategies, goals, objectives, and strategic planning in collaboration with the Executive Vice President & Chief Business Officer
  • Acts as staff liaison with the VOANR Advancement Committee with delegation from the Executive Vice President & Chief Business Officer
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to plan each fiscal year fund development. Monitors performance against monthly results and communicates year-end projections
  • Oversees communications and fundraising efforts. Activities including individual giving, special events, corporate solicitations, and major gift development, program and organizational marketing, public relations, and external communications
  • Oversees and manages Development and Communications staff for the highest level of engagement regarding organizational advancement and donor development and cultivation
  • Defines metrics and measurements that quantify the performance of advancement goals and institutionalizes a system for capturing and reporting performance results
  • Partner with Volunteers of America, INC to ensure alignment with fundraising, marketing, communications, and national brand standards
  • Builds and maintains key relationships to ensure fund development strategy is achieved and to reinforce the VOA brand and impact throughout the Charter territory
