About The Position

The Vice President of Information Technology is a member of the senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO, and provides strategic and operational direction to the Health Information Technology (HIT) Department. Ensures the development and implementation of cost-effective, efficient and reliable computer operations to support KHI’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, IS, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Progressive management experience in IT with at least 5 years at a mid-level management level.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead complex organizations with multiple stake holders.
  • Ability to exercise mature and sound judgment in the management of information services.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to develop a team approach.
  • Understands physician relationship dynamics and ability to earn physician respect and support.
  • Ability to speak clearly in front of a group of people.
  • Knowledge of the operation of information systems, structures, services.
  • Ability to create an environment that leads to an exceptional patient experience.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate with is vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in healthcare, IS, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in healthcare delivery systems as a CIO or senior most IS leader in a healthcare delivery system.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the strategic information systems planning and direction for the organization, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of the quality of information services provided.
  • Develops information plans, policies, and procedures, oversees the purchase, vendor selection processes, project management, implementation, and maintenance of hospital information systems and communications systems; coordinates organization-wide information services educational programs and ensures administrative and clinical leadership have accurate and timely informational reports to support key decision-making processes.
  • Responsible for the planning, development, evaluation, coordination and management of the information and technology systems for the organization. This includes telephones, data imaging, practice management systems, office automation, data storage, networking, etc.
  • Ensures HIT Division is effectively and efficiently staffed with the appropriately trained personnel to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Develops operating and capital expenditure budgets for HIT on an annual basis in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends the necessary resources to achieve agreed upon goals.
  • Manages and directs the HIT Division in a manner that established budgets are met.
  • Establishes a division scorecard for HIT that is supportive of the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Interfaces with IS suppliers and maintains knowledge of current technology, equipment, prices, and terms of agreements to minimize the investment required to meet established service levels.
  • Evaluates alternatives, performs appropriate cost benefit analysis, and recommends solutions that maximize effectiveness and minimize costs commensurate with acceptable risks.
  • Develops and maintains processes aimed at maximizing effectiveness and minimizing costs related to the acquisition, implementation, and operation of IT systems.
  • Reviews all hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts, soliciting involvement and participation of key stakeholders as appropriate.
