About The Position

Mainsail is looking for a Vice President, Human Resources (VPHR) to join its executive leadership team. This role is crucial for the company's rapid growth over the next two to five years, requiring the successful creation and implementation of innovative HR solutions and transformational leadership. The VPHR will develop and execute a people and culture strategy that supports growth across Mainsail’s four lines of business, leading all aspects of human resources and driving HR strategies aligned with organizational goals across geographically dispersed properties. The VPHR will partner with senior leadership on workforce planning, talent management, and employee development initiatives to ensure business growth and operational success. Mainsail Lodging & Development is an award-winning, Tampa, Florida-based company specializing in hotel, furnished housing, and resort property management and development, marketing and sales, with a portfolio of top-branded properties throughout the southeastern United States and Caribbean, including Stay Sojo and Mainsail Vacation Rentals.

Requirements

  • Strong strategic thinking and hospitality business acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments and are comfortable with ambiguity and change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of HR experience.
  • At least five years of executive HR experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in HR technology and data analytics (Workday preferred).
  • MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred.
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or HRCI Certification preferred.
  • HR experience in Hospitality industry strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a strategic business partner to the executive/senior management of each business unit or specialty group regarding key organizational and management issues.
  • Lead organizational design and workforce planning to ensure the right talent, structure, and capabilities are in place to achieve growth targets.
  • Advise on and manage complex employee relations issues.
  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations for high-profile/high-risk situations.
  • Strengthen leadership capability across the organization through learning, coaching, and development programs.
  • Develop strategies to attract and retain associates in highly competitive labor markets.
  • Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs.
  • Conduct market analyses to ensure equitable and attractive pay structures.
  • Evaluate and implement employee wellness and benefits initiatives.
  • Lead all core HR functions: talent acquisition, total rewards, performance, compensation, talent management, and succession planning.
  • Implement scalable systems, processes, and analytics to support data-driven decision making and operational consistency across all locations.
  • Oversee HR integration for acquisitions, new property openings, and employee growth throughout the portfolio.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of associates, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partners with the legal counsel as needed/required.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective.
  • Serve as a visible and trusted leader during periods of organizational growth and change, balancing empathy, communication, and accountability.
  • Build and maintain communication and engagement systems that keep all associates connected regardless of their geographic location.
  • Partner closely with operations and finance to ensure a smooth transition and cultural alignment for new associates.
