Position Purpose: The Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR) partners with all levels of leadership to ensure the attraction, development, and retention of talent across the organization. This role is a trusted advisor of the Senior Management team and responsible for the development and delivery of innovative and effective talent management strategies, as well as oversight of the execution of resource planning, talent acquisition and retention, and compensation management programs for NICB. As the head of the HR Department, they provide leadership and guidance to managers at all levels of company as well as line-level employees as it pertains to human capital management. Responsible for the organization's Total Rewards Program and designing, developing, and executing HR programs that align to the overall strategy and business needs and promote organizational growth. The VPHR sets, enforces, and evaluates legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • At least 10 years of human resources generalist experience required; experience in talent management and strategy preferred and insurance industry experience a plus
  • At least five years of Senior Management/Leadership experience with a track record of progressively responsible leadership roles
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or similar strongly preferred
  • Ability to influence and partner effectively across a mission-driven organization.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrates strategic agility, pivoting from vision setting to operational execution.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the VP Team, collaborates with peers and senior executives to define the organization’s long-term goals and objectives; and identifies way to support these through effective human resources initiatives.
  • Oversees all of the functional areas of the HR Department, including but not limited to recruitment, benefits, compensation, performance management, employee relations, talent management and training and HRIS (ADP).
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders in organization design initiatives.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the HR team; motivates and provides constructive and timely performance feedback to ensure support continuous growth of the team.
  • Liaises with vendors, service providers, and governmental agencies as needed to enhance performance and efficiency of NICB.
  • Establishes HR metrics; monitors and assesses HR’s and leadership’s success based on these metrics.
  • In consultation with leaders and the Law and Policy department, facilitates disciplinary actions and employee relations issues in accordance with NICB policies.
  • Ensures legal compliance in areas such as employment, benefits, compensation, insurance, and safety in order to mitigate risk and maintain fair and equitable practices.
  • Works with managers and employees to establish and maintain a positive work environment, and serve as champion of the NICB culture and brand.
  • Develops and administers the operating budget for the HR Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
