About The Position

The Vice President of Human Resources – Construction Equipment (CE) is a key member of the CE Leadership Team, responsible for shaping and executing the people and culture strategy for a decentralized multi-location construction dealership operation. This role partners closely with the President, Regional and Functional VPs and other leaders to drive profitability, workforce and leadership performance, and a strong culture across the business. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor on labor relations, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, and leadership development, ensuring that the business is positioned to scale, operate safely and perform at a high level in a branch-based, profit‑center‑driven environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including multi‑region or decentralized business environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in a decentralized, field-services operating model.
  • Demonstrated expertise in labor relations, employee relations, investigations, and executive HR support.
  • Proven ability to influence and advise senior executives and business leaders.
  • Strong business acumen with experience operating in profit‑center‑driven organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or professional HR certification (SPHR, SHRM‑SCP).
  • Experience in construction equipment, heavy equipment, or industrial distribution environment.
  • Experience supporting unionized and non‑union workforces.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active member of the CE Leadership Team.
  • Provide strategic HR counsel to the President and senior leaders on leadership effectiveness, organizational design, workforce strategy.
  • Align people & culture initiatives with business performance, growth, and operational priorities.
  • Partner with Regional leaders to support a decentralized, branch-based operating model.
  • Identify and address workforce, leadership, engagement, and risks across regions.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, while adapting to local market realities.
  • Lead labor relations strategy, including union interactions, collective bargaining support, and grievance escalation.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to mitigate and resolve labor and employee relations issues. Mitigate risk through sound judgement, and consistent practice.
  • Oversee and conduct complex workplace investigations.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Safety, and other leadership to ensure appropriate resolution and risk mitigation. mitigate risk and ensure appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure investigations are fair, timely, thorough, and compliant with employment laws and company standards.
  • Partner leadership to reinforce and advance a strong safety culture across all regions.
  • Support leadership accountability for safe behaviors, and incident prevention.
  • Participate in serious incident reviews, and corrective action planning.
  • Drive succession planning and leadership pipeline development across the business.
  • Partner with business leaders to align workforce to growth and operational needs.
  • Lead change management efforts related to growth, restructuring, and business transformation initiatives.
  • Lead and develop HR Business Partners supporting the Construction Equipment Group.
  • Elevate HR capability in coaching, influence and field partnership.
  • Ensure HR is a strategic, value-added function in the CE business.
